St. John's Nurture Room

Since being re-purposed in November 2018, the nurture room is well and truly established as a valuable resource within St. John’s. It is used daily by a variety of children who may require a calm, safe space in which to talk or relax. Mrs Cox has been working with children over the last few years to boost resilience, reduce anxiety, support positive mental health and overall, to be a friendly listening ear.

To support her work, there are various cuddly toys (for when children need to be children); there are stories which might help them verbalise their worries and there are a range of sensory materials which help calming.

The Nest

The Nest is our school’s dedicated space where children carry out regulation activities and exercise with the support of a trained adult throughout the school day. It is a designated space designed to help pupils regulate in order to be ready to learn. Some children also access personalised or small group Occupational Therapy programmes, written by Future Steps, based on the needs of pupils in school which are delivered within The Nest.

Flamingos

Flamingos is our additional morning provision delivered by Mrs Nelson and Mrs Dixon which is designed to offer a highly supportive, personalised, adaptive approach to learning for children who require additional support. It provides a structured yet nurturing environment where pupils can explore, practise skills and engage in meaningful activities for their next steps in their learning journeys.
