Since being re-purposed in November 2018, the nurture room is well and truly established as a valuable resource within St. John’s. It is used daily by a variety of children who may require a calm, safe space in which to talk or relax. Mrs Cox has been working with children over the last year to boost resilience, reduce anxiety, support positive mental health and overall, to be a friendly listening ear.
To support her work, there are various cuddly toys (for when children need to be children); there are stories which might help them verbalise their worries; and there are a range of sensory materials which help calming.
