An Inspiring Visit for Year 5 & 6
St John the Evangelist Catholic Primary School was delighted to welcome a local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) into school today to speak with our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. The session offered an insightful look into her role within the police service and provided pupils with a clearer understanding of how PCSOs help keep communities safe.
Exploring the Role of a PCSO
During the visit, the PCSO helped to dispel common myths about policing and explained the vital role PCSOs play in supporting neighbourhoods. She also reassured pupils about how the police work every day to protect the public, respond to concerns and build strong, trusting relationships with local communities.
The children were fully engaged throughout the session, listening carefully and showing genuine curiosity. They asked thoughtful, well‑considered questions that reflected their interest in safety, responsibility and the world around them.
A Valuable Learning Opportunity
This visit offered pupils an important chance to learn about community safety, positive citizenship and the real‑life responsibilities of those who serve and protect. Opportunities like this help to broaden pupils’ understanding and encourage them to feel confident seeking help from trusted adults in the community.
A Heartfelt Thank You
A big thank you to our visiting PCSO for taking the time to speak with our pupils and for engaging with them so warmly. Her visit made a meaningful impact and helped our children gain a deeper appreciation of the important work carried out by the police.
